Submission guidelines

Our team welcomes unsolicited articles from contributors with a strong track-record in climate development and society issues from a political, public policy, advocacy and economic perspective.

Prospective contributors should consider the following:

  • We are interested in publishing authors that offer pragmatic insights on how to advance transformative action in the climate and environmental spheres as part of a nation´s development, economic and political agenda.
  • We encourage the submission of materials by developing-country experts and analysts. We are also particularly interested in middle-income economies and in political economy analysis.
  • We recommend that authors become familiar with Nivela’s mission and work before considering a submission. We aim to provide reflection and analysis that shapes public and decision makers’ opinions rather than publish theoretical, overly technical or abstract climate or environmental policy analysis.
  • Submissions should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words. We will not review longer submissions.
  • Materials should be submitted in English but in exceptional cases we will publish articles in Portuguese and Spanish.
  • Images, graphs, or figures should be at least 540 pixels wide, use colors sparingly and must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format.
  • In some cases we might choose to promote your articles and contributions through our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
  • Please allow eight business days in order to receive a response from the team.
